Several new developments have come out in the past few days of new establishments coming into Huntsville.
The first was a few days ago when Wahlburgers announced they will be one of the tenants moving into the downtown CityCentre. The Wahlburgers will be inside the new AC by Marriott Hotel, formally the Holiday Inn. AL.com has more information on the event as well as CityCentre itself.
Just released yesterday, Topgolf will be coming to MidCity Development. The article says the new business will be three levels and 72 climate controlled bays. WHNT has the article for further information and a video by Topgolf which has been embedded below.

News Bites 6/16/15
Going through the local news and some interesting newslets that may be interesting.
This weekend ts Food Truck Friday and Saturday it will be NASA on the Courthouse Square. Another opportunity to sample what the many food trucks have to offer. See this article about scheduling and what food trucks will normally be there. NASA on the square will feature astronaut, TJ Creamer and provide entertainment from four local bands and ability to talk with scientists and engineers leading the way within the Marshall Space Flight Community.
It looks like Cabelas is continuing to be constructed and they are now advertising for job applicants. Located near Bridge Street Town Center, General Manager Steve Smith has stated that its "one of the better" locations he has seen and promises a "legendary experience" for newcomers to the store.
In interesting space news, Huntsville, Madison, Chamber of Commerce, Huntsville/Madison Airport Authority, & Madison County Commission are working together to produce a feasibility study concerning possible landings of Sierra Nevada Corporation's Dream Chaser spacecraft at Huntsville International Airport. Positive quotes from Sierra Nevada Corporations indicate that Huntsville is an important place to grow operations.

Trampoline Park Update, Disclosing Information, Town Madison Co-op District
First an update on something we had several calls about. Shakalaka Trampoline Park off of University Drive. Originally we had expected the park to open in the spring. We received several calls from our wonderful readers that asked if we had heard any updates. Until now we had none and everything was silent about the opening date. The park is now open and looks to offer a variety of activities including Free Jumping, obstacle course, and a fitness class. For more information call the number above or click the link above.
Now a word about disclosing information by and for home sellers. If you have information about your house that your agent may or may not be aware about. Be sure to bring it up. This lack of disclosure can bring problems down the road. Don't assume everything will be taken care of when these issues or problems can possibly pop up during home inspections, title searches, or termite inspections. If an agent does not have all the vital information, they cannot give you the proper guidance and are only seeing with one eye open. Sellers expect the real estate agent to give them all the possible options, in turn agents want to be given all the information so that no options are overlooked. Remember communication and disclosure of information are keys to having a good business relationship.
In other news, Madison city council has green lighted the Town Madison Co-op District. This will create a new area of development over 700 acres covering everything from Zierdt Road along I-565 up to Wall Triana Highway. The first phase of development will be at the corner of Zierdt and I-565. Keep your eyes peeled for more information about this massive development project.

News and Events 7/11/14
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. It seems like everyone around the office had amazing stories of great food, fun times, and big celebration parties.
The Madison County Board of Education has moved forward with their plans to build a new $46 million dollar high school. Monrovia High School. Its location was also settled as the site chosen was right across from Legacy on Pettus Road. The Board also gave their approval for the County Superintendent David Copeland to go ahead and negotiate for purchasing of the land. *Also to note we have a fantastic home (w/pool & tornado shelter) nearby at 313 Sunnyslope Trail, it will be short walking distance to the new high school.
This Friday, 7/11/14, free movies in the park will be showing Disney's Frozen. It will begin near 8.15 when it gets dark so people may want to go early to get a good spot on the grassy area behind the Huntsville Museum of Art. If this is anything like the movie theater, it will be packed.
This weekend is also the 4th Tennessee Valley Hunting & Fishing Expo at the VBC South Hall. It takes place today, Saturday, and Sunday. Admission is $10. As with the Frozen showing, expect to be a large turnout for the Expo with the celebrity guests: Jep & Jessica Robertson, Bass Masters' Chris Lane, and Rick & Bubba. As well as last years special guest Twiggy, the waterskiing squirrel.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

Almost Spring and Local Events are Starting
Almost being the keyword, Spring is scheduled to start on March 20th. So we are two days away from that and possibly a few more weeks before we get the constant Spring warmth that feels familiar. As you may have guessed the weather seems to be in flux reaching into the 70s before crashing back into the 40s. Right now after this Winter, the 70s really have a good feel to them.
As every spring, The NEACA Spring Craft Show begins Friday and lasts through Sunday at the VBC South Hall. Never know what the vendors will have so go check them out.
Also next weekend on the 29th, will once again be the ACES Family Farm and Fleece Expo at the Alabama A&M Agribition Center on Moores Mill Road. We had a lot of fun last year, so this year we're inviting more people to attend.
Something else to note for the kids, thanks to Amy Jones of Our Valley Events: Williams-Sonoma has junior chef classes for kids regularly. The most recent dates for junior chef are 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, and 4/26. They even have technique classes for adults. Here's a list of events.

What's New in Huntsville?
Several good news stories out so lets get right to it.
UAH opened their brand new student center Charger Union to great ceremony yesterday including cutting the blue ribbon. The 90,000 sqft, $25 million dollar building is just another one of the items on the master plan for UAH construction moving forward. As UAH continues with construction, it eyes a more traditional campus feel.
A new indoor trampoline park will open Apr 1 on University Drive called Shakalaka. Included will be open trampoline field, trampoline dodgeball stadium, and a first for Alabama: a Ninja Warrior Aerial Obstacle Course (yes just like the ones you see on tv). With trampoline parks all over the country, the developer hopes this will serve the greater Huntsville community.
And lastly, it looks like the cold, frigid weather has retreated for the near future. This weekend is forecasting rain and temperatures back to the upper 50's, so let's enjoy that while its here.

Everyone have a safe and Happy Halloween
For an event that has been celebrated in one form or another for at least over 400 years, Halloween and its variants have brought untold amount of fun, mischief, mystery, awe, solemness, and fright. It is a unique mix of religious, secular, remembrance, costume, and food.
This time, Halloween looks to fall on a Thursday and possibly have showers and thunderstorms so many will go early for trick-or-treating to try and beat the weather.
So whatever you plan on doing or how you're spending your time have fun and be safe. Happy Halloween everyone!

Last Weekend's Roundup
Just a quick post on last weekend. The Team went out last weekend and popped in at several spots around Huntsville in the many events which were ongoing. (And thankfully for the good weather)
Friday, the Team strolled Bridgestreet in the morning for a few hours before settling in the afternoon at The Gem, Jewelry, & Mineral Show at the VBC.
Saturday, it seems everyone was at the Huntsville Ghost Walk to hear the stories and see the historical homes during the 2.2 mile trek. When our group led by Robert Reeves came back to the starting point, there were many more people on the four corners waiting for their turn to go for the 8PM Start. The amount of people that came out was overwhelming to see.
Sunday, we enjoyed ourselves immensely at the Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll. Like the Huntsville Ghost Walk on the previous day, Maple Hill Cemetery was completely packed full of people. The crowds which surrounded the Huntsville Historical Figures where bustling at the seams. The Black Widow of Hazel Green, Elizabeth Dale Gibbons could even have her pick of any of the multitudes of men in attendance.
We even managed to take a nice picture of Mary Bibb as she talked about herself and her tomb behind her.

All in all it was a very fun weekend but exhausting to try and make all the wonderful events. Going to all the events was well worth it for both self enjoyment, involvement in the community, as well as interacting with other people we met along the way. So if something like these events comes again we'll go again, and we can only hope you will as well!

Next weekend activities, for Oct 11-13
It seems like there are many events which fall on next weekend of Oct 11-13 and because of the team's busy schedule we may not get a chance to get the information out. Here are just a few of them to go to. The team will try to hit at least three of these wonderful events. If you see the team show up with new jewelry, pictures, fresh vegetables and looking full of food, you will know what happened. Best thing that can be said about these events that people don't realize that these events are mostly local with a possible exception of a few vendors at the Gem and Mineral Show. A few vendors might come from the edge of the Tennessee Valley or outside of it.
Huntsville's Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll 10/13/13 from 2-4:30PM
Usually more than 80 historical figures among the 80,000 dead tell their story throughout the afternoon in a delightful experience of walking, listening to stories, and listening to music.
2013 Gem, Jewelry & Mineral Show Oct 11 & 12 10AM-6PM & Oct 13 Noon-5PM
A great experience for finding great jewelry, loose gems, and fun table and corner placements. With many vendors and possible combinations of jewelry, this visit is definitely worth it.
Huntsville Ghost Tour 6PM on weekends Fri & Sat
Fun stories of Huntsville's first residents, intrigue, murder, and scandal. These walks make you go back for weeks on end to hear something you may missed.
Madison City Farmers Market 10/12/13 9AM-1PM
1282 Hughes Road, next to Discovery Middle School.
Inaugural Downtown Street Food Gathering Oct 11th 6-9PM
Complete with Food Trucks and Music by Goat Hill String Band, Parking behind Regions Bank.
Today's Tidbit: Get out with friends and family and enjoy the fall harvests and parties.

Outdoor Nature Places to Visit & US Army Soldier Show
Today's post comes from a reader who asked about outdoor nature places for hiking, fishing, and just to go be with the large expanses of nature.
Being that Huntsville is one of the cities with the most green spaces in the country, there are plenty of places to go in the city, metro area and for day trips outside the city.
Below are links we have assembled for going outdoors and getting into nature and being a part of different activities and observe the wonderful green scenery.
Huntsville Botanical Garden
Madison County Nature Trail on Green Mountain
Land Trust of North Alabama
Big Spring Park
Maple Hill Cemetery
State Parks of Alabama
Monte Sano State Park
Lake Guntersville State Park
Cathedral Caverns State Park
Alabama Vacation Guide
Today's Tidbit: Another part of The Carol Jacobs Team went out to the US Army Soldier Show Wednesday night and it was fantastic. A superb performance of singing, dancing, and acting. The stage had wonderful lights props, and soldiers that really had you believe they were professionals at everything they did. The music, singing, and dancing cut across all boundaries from country, rap, jazz, dance hall, Disney, rock, pop, and musicals. Here is the rest of the Tour Schedule for the US Army Soldier Show!

Quick Review of Concert in the Park: 7/22/13, US Army Materiel Command Band
Part of the Carol Jacobs team went to last night's Concerts in the Park on a whim and were pleased with the turnout, environment, and fun.
Put on by The Arts Council Inc of Huntsville, AL & the Department of Recreational Services of Huntsville, AL, was moved indoors because of the rain during the day and possible rain later on. The relocated event took place in the South Hall of the VBC, on the south side of the VBC Arena. The hall was completely air conditioned and over 95% brought their lawn chairs and folding chairs while the vendors sold food and drinks.
The MC for the evening was Steve Johnson of WHNT who introduced everyone from the band to guests to present honors to the band.
Once the the music started, it began with several jazz pieces then moving to the title track from the movie "1941" and the Olympic signature piece "Fanfare for the common man" among many others. The performers were looking very sharp and their instruments were completely sterling with shine that could be seen in the far back of the hall.
Intermingling with the crowd were also reenactors dressed up in different period uniforms from nurses from the Vietnam and WWII era, to Vietnam Recon soldiers and WWII infantry.
The large crowd gave applause after every set and enjoyed themselves thoroughly. With a concert this nice, free, and easy access to the event everyone was pleased to have made it.
We eagerly look forward to going to more Concerts in the Park.
